Initiatives to Highlight Historical Irbid Hill as a Tourist and Heritage Destination

Historical Irbid Hill has become a distinctive tourist destination for many citizens and visitors from various governorates, due to its unique civilizational and heritage value, which attests to the city's long history and urban development over many decades.

The hill and its surroundings include a group of the most prominent historical and heritage landmarks in the province, foremost of which is the Beit Al-Saraya Museum with its stone arches witnessing the Ottoman era, the House of the Poet Arar, which exudes the fragrance of literature and culture, and the Nablusi House with its unique architectural style, in addition to the ancient guesthouses and houses that embody the authenticity of local architecture and heritage, and translate the values of genuine hospitality.

The area has also become home to a number of small and elegant tourist restaurants and cafes, which provide the tourist with a distinctive experience to get to know the old places and explore their heritage details, in a calm atmosphere that combines the beauty of the present and the fragrance of the past.

In the context of continuous efforts to highlight the civilizational components and activate tourist and exploratory movement in the province, and within the activities of the 'Day of Change' initiative, the Irbid Women's Committees Gathering organized, yesterday, a field tour that included a large number of women, activists, and members of the local community to the historical Irbid Hill.

Yasmin Al-Za'abi, President of the Irbid Women's Committees Gathering, confirmed that this tour came as a commitment and pledge from the gathering within the 'Day of Change' initiative, with the aim of highlighting this important place, showcasing its historical, archaeological, heritage, and tourist value, and enhancing the presence of these heritage sites in the national memory and community activities.

Al-Za'abi explained that the gathering places at the top of its priorities the active contribution to highlighting the distinguished tourist and archaeological sites that the province is rich in, affirming that such initiatives come out of belief in the importance of enhancing community awareness of the civilizational value of Irbid Hill and its heritage landmarks, and the necessity of giving these places the appropriate attention and care, in order to ensure their sustainability and enhance their status on the tourist and cultural map of the Kingdom.

In this context, and in implementation of the ongoing efforts to highlight the historical and archaeological landmarks in the region, the Irbid Governorate Tourism Directorate intends to hold a celebration on the occasion of 'World Tourism Day' tomorrow, Sunday, under the patronage of the Governor of Irbid.

The celebration will be held at 7:00 PM at the Dar Al-Saraya Museum, located in the center of Irbid City, affirming the great historical and tourist importance of this place, and its role in enhancing the cultural and heritage identity of the province.

The efforts of the Greater Irbid Municipality, through the project to develop the city center, remain among the most prominent efforts in this regard, through its comprehensive vision to rehabilitate the heritage center and improve the infrastructure and facilities surrounding the hill, in order to preserve its authentic architectural character, and contribute to turning it into a major investment and tourist attraction point.
