"Industry and Trade" Launches Three Sectoral Strategies for the Years 2027–2029

The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced, in cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the launch of three sectoral strategies for the years (2027–2029), covering engineering industries, food industries, and chemical and cosmetic industries, as part of efforts to develop the industrial sector and enhance its competitiveness and productivity, supporting the objectives of the "High Value Industries" engine within the economic modernization vision.

In this context, the Ministry explained that the three strategies form executive frameworks for developing the targeted sectors, by identifying priorities, initiatives, and projects with economic impact, linking them to clear performance indicators and targets, contributing to enhancing the industrial sector's contribution to economic growth, exports, investment, and employment.

The Ministry also noted that the preparation of these strategies came in partnership and close coordination with the Jordan Chamber of Industry, supported by the economic reform program, which contributed to providing local expertise and organizing a series of consultation sessions with representatives of industrial sectors and related parties, ensuring alignment of priorities and initiatives with the needs of the private sector and national directions.

Building on these priorities, the strategies focus on raising industrial productivity and competitiveness, enhancing innovation, research, and development, attracting quality investments with added value, developing capabilities and skills, increasing exports, and enhancing the access of national products to regional and international markets, alongside providing sustainable job opportunities for Jordanians.

In the engineering industries sector, the strategy aims to develop engineering industries into a qualitatively distinguished manufacturing sector that generates value and creates good job opportunities, alongside enhancing investments and the formation of fixed capital in sectors of metal products and electrical equipment.

In the food industries sector, the strategy focuses on raising manufacturing efficiency, enhancing productivity, added value, and competitiveness, supporting innovation, product development, and enhancing the ability of Jordanian food products to access markets, contributing to supporting the food security system and enhancing the sustainability of the sector.

In the chemical and cosmetic industries sector, the strategy focuses on enhancing the shift towards specialized and high-added-value products, increasing the export capacity and competitiveness of the sector, and supporting innovation and development. The strategy also emphasizes enhancing the readiness of industrial establishments to deal with environmental requirements and sustainability requirements in global markets, including those related to the European Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

To ensure the translation of these directions into tangible results, the Ministry confirmed that the three strategies include implementation plans, key performance indicators, and clear governance, monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms, enabling the monitoring of the implementation of initiatives and projects and measuring their impact on the performance of the targeted sectors, linking the objectives of the strategies to measurable economic results.

In light of this, the Ministry emphasized that the success of implementing these strategies relies on the continuation of partnership and integration between the public and private sectors and related parties, contributing to building a more competitive industrial sector capable of exporting, investing, and innovating, enhancing the role of industry as a key driver of economic growth and job creation in the Kingdom.
