Jordan and Uzbekistan move to sign a preferential trade agreement covering 300 commodities

Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov said that Jordan and Uzbekistan intend to sign a preferential trade agreement, marking a practical step to enhance trade exchange and joint investments between the two countries.

During a meeting with representatives of the industrial sector at the Amman Chamber of Industry on Monday, Kudratov added that the agreement will cover 300 commodities, with 150 items from each side, benefiting from preferential treatment in both countries' markets through the reduction of customs duties in accordance with the agreement's provisions.

He emphasized that the agreement will form a foundation for enhancing trade exchange, developing industrial and investment partnerships, and opening new horizons for Jordanian and Uzbek companies to benefit from the opportunities available in both countries' markets.

He pointed out that the agreement comes within the framework of the political commitment of the two countries' leaderships to develop sustainable economic and trade relations, noting that both governments are working to create an appropriate environment for trade and investment development and to enhance communication between business communities, contributing to transforming available opportunities into joint projects and production partnerships.

He explained that the coming period will witness bilateral meetings, a business forum, and a joint exhibition, with the participation of more than 100 representatives from Uzbek companies, with the aim of discussing cooperation opportunities and identifying priority sectors for both sides.

He confirmed that the anticipated agreement represents an opportunity to strengthen the presence of Jordanian products in the Uzbek market and open the way for Uzbek products to benefit from the Jordanian market, thereby supporting the growth of trade exchanges and expanding areas of economic cooperation between the two countries.
