Locally, the Jordan Industrial Estates Company and the German Jordanian University have signed a memorandum of understanding that we hope will be a step in the right direction toward building Jordanian competencies capable of entering the labor market strongly. The two parties will cooperate to establish an "Industrial District" that brings together the university, laboratories, pilot factories, and tech companies in one location, serving as a platform for the industries of the future.
The idea of the Industrial District will be implemented to strengthen cooperation between the academic and industrial sectors and to support innovation and industrial and economic growth in Jordan. Areas of cooperation will include innovative and qualitative topics, most notably: smart cities, digital transformation, energy, sustainability, industrial innovation, technology transfer, competency development, and applied research.
Work will also be done to develop technical solutions for industrial challenges by leveraging artificial intelligence, data analysis, the Internet of Things, and drones, in addition to supporting sustainability and reducing emissions in the industrial sector through improving energy efficiency, developing innovative solutions, enhancing vocational training and workshops, and expanding opportunities for students in practical training and graduation projects.
Economically, the Industrial District will provide numerous benefits to all parties—the company, the university, students, and employers. It will contribute to attracting advanced investments that rely on the skills of graduates, help link education and scientific research to production, transfer German technology to the local market through the university's partnerships with German companies and factories, and provide high-quality job opportunities for graduates. It will also incentivize graduates to establish startups in their various fields of work, all of which will certainly reflect on our national economy in the long term.
This memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of both sides' efforts to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in Jordan, support technology transfer, and develop competencies, contributing to sustainable economic growth. We hope that more partnerships will be formed between the public and private sectors, and between academic and research institutions and industrial entities in the private sector, with the aim of keeping pace with labor market requirements.
It is also essential to qualify and train students before graduation, providing them with the necessary skills that facilitate their access to high-quality and immediate job opportunities required in Jordan and in regional and global markets. Jordanian competencies will always remain the best and most sought-after for their efficiency and excellence.. May God protect Jordan.
