“I Am Jealous of You” by Adel Gouda: An Emotional Reading Intertwining Woman and Homeland

The Jordanian Writers and Literary Figures Union hosted the launch of the book “I Am Jealous of You” by the writer and poet Dr. Adel Ali Gouda, in an evening that included two critical readings that addressed its emotional and aesthetic dimensions, and the national and humanitarian content of its texts.

The book is the thirteenth publication in Gouda's literary experience, and the eighth in his documentary series “Flashes of Emotion.” The evening was attended by writers, critics, media professionals, and cultural enthusiasts, under the patronage of the former Minister of State, Taha Al-Habahbah.

In his critical reading, the academic critic Dr. Hussein Al-Batush discussed the stylistic and intellectual characteristics of the book, pointing to the combination of the essay and the poem, and the presence of national and Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, alongside the values of loyalty and belonging to the place and the human being.

Al-Batush believed that the texts are characterized by clarity of expression and coherence of language, giving the reader space to interact with the writer's ideas and his emotional and national content.

For her part, the academic critic Dr. Fida Abu Farda focused on the psychological and aesthetic dimensions of the texts, stopping at the treatment of the concept of jealousy and its relationship with love and trust, and what is associated with it of human and ethical connotations.

She also pointed to the presence of the duality of woman and homeland in the author's experience, where the image of the female is intertwined with the place in an emotional construction that combines emotion and belonging, alongside the texts' distinctive sweetness of rhythm and poetic and prose imagery.

The book highlights topics related to the message of the intellectual and his moral responsibility, writing as a carrier of ideas and positions, as well as expressing the connection to Jordan, its place, and its people, and defending human rights and dignity.

At the end of the evening, the President of the Union, the poet Aliyan Al-Adwan, and members of the administrative body, honored the participants in the meeting, and the author signed copies of the book for the attendees.
