The evening was moderated by association member Mahmoud Al-Hajj Saleh. Mahfouz Gouda opened the readings with an enthusiastic patriotic poem entitled «Damn poetry that did not stir the fervor within us», before moving on to a number of poems whose themes varied between soulful, romantic, and emotional.
Among his poems were «She Appeared Veiled», in which he addressed the image of the veiled woman as a symbol of modesty, and «Write as You Please», which revolves around the relationship of a poet who writes romantic poetry about his wife, alongside the emotional poem «The Love of Roses» and the soulful poem «Time Has Faded».
As for Rakan Al-Masaeed, he began his participation with a patriotic poem entitled «As if God had not created another like him», praising Jordan, followed by the poem «I never loved anyone like you, my homeland», before moving on to Amman in his poem «Amman, Mother of Capitals».
Al-Masaeed evoked in another poem the city of Salt and its heritage, and also touched upon Gaza, the heroism of its people, and their sacrifices in a patriotic poem. He presented a number of texts varied in their themes and styles, including a symbolic free-verse poem entitled «The Bull».
The evening came within the framework of the cultural program of the Jordanian Writers Association, affirming the presence of poetry as one of the spaces where national issues, human experience, and aesthetic expression meet.
