Head of Olive Press Owners Syndicate: Intensifying joint oversight to combat olive oil fraud

The head of the Olive Press Owners and Olive Producers Syndicate, Tayseer Al-Najdawi, confirmed that all olive presses in the Kingdom are highly prepared and efficient to receive and press olives for the current 2026 season, to produce high-quality olive oil.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said that the Syndicate conducted field inspections of all presses before the start of the pressing season through the Syndicate's quality engineer, to ensure their compliance with health, occupational safety, and environmental conditions stipulated in the instructions for licensing the establishment and operation of olive presses issued under the effective Agriculture Law.

Al-Najdawi pointed out that several meetings were held with the Minister of Agriculture and the Director-General of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) before the start of the season to arrange preparations for it.

Al-Najdawi praised the oversight role played by the joint government committees, which include personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture, the JFDA, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, the Cybercrime Unit, and the Syndicate, especially the Committee for the Protection of Jordanian Olive Oil, which is concerned with monitoring, pursuing, and combating all means of fraud that olive oil may be subjected to, and taking deterrent legal measures against the perpetrators.

He explained that the Syndicate participates in educating and guiding citizens to purchase from reliable sources through the national campaign to purchase olive oil from reliable sources, which was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture with the participation of government oversight bodies at the beginning of this month.

He praised the role played by the Ministry, represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Saeb Al-Khreisat, in supporting and protecting the olive and olive oil sector, which is considered a national and strategic product par excellence.
