Hadjar returns to the Red Bull seat in Formula 1

French driver Isack Hadjar returns to participate with his Red Bull team in Formula 1 this weekend during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, following his absence from the last three rounds.

Hadjar had missed the races in the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, where he was replaced by New Zealander Liam Lawson.

The absence of the Frenchman, who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Monday, was due to a wrist injury he sustained during training over the summer break.

The team wrote on social media, "Oracle Red Bull Racing is pleased to welcome Isack back this weekend."

It added, "After successfully recovering from a wrist injury, Isack will return to compete at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday."

Hadjar sits in eighth place in the drivers' standings with 71 points. He managed to take third place at the Monaco Grand Prix and finished in the top six in a series of 7 consecutive races before his injury.

The Frenchman is competing in his second season in the premier class after finishing second in the 2024 Formula 2 championship. After a good first season with Racing Bulls in 2025, he joined Red Bull this season to partner with Dutchman Max Verstappen, the 4-time world champion.

On the other hand, Lawson is heading in the opposite direction, returning to Racing Bulls, Red Bull's sister team, this weekend.

Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda had replaced Lawson during the three Grands Prix. Lawson collected 14 points during his temporary stint behind the wheel of the Red Bull by finishing seventh in Zandvoort, 14th in Monza, and sixth in Madrid, while Tsunoda managed to collect one point while driving the Racing Bulls car.
