An official government source reported that the decision of the Council of Ministers to dissolve the Trade Chamber boards nearly two months before their scheduled elections aligns with legal provisions, and comes within the framework of governing the electoral process and providing an opportunity for those wishing to run to prepare for and manage the elections.
The source pointed out that while considering the elections for the Chambers of Industry and Commerce last July in preparation for their conduct, the government deemed it appropriate to dissolve the boards at least two months before the election date, as a matter of governance and to ensure no conflict of interest.
The source explained that the elections for the Chamber of Industry precede those for the Chamber of Commerce by two months, so it was not possible to dissolve their boards more than a month before the elections, as the elections will be held at the beginning of next month.
The source confirmed that the two-month period is sufficient to prepare for conducting the elections with impartiality and transparency, in accordance with the provisions of the governing legislation.
