Al-Habashneh: Preparations for Conducting Industry and Commerce Chamber Elections and Attracting Cadres via the 'Jaaez' Platform

The Director of the Electoral Operations Directorate at the Independent Election Commission, Nasser Al-Habashneh, said that the Commission has begun its preparations to conduct three electoral events during the current year and next year, including the industry chamber elections, commerce chamber elections, and parliamentary elections.

Al-Habashneh explained that the industry chamber elections will take place on March 13th, including the Amman, Zarqa, and Irbid industry chambers, noting that the number of candidates for membership in the management councils of the Zarqa and Irbid industry chambers is equal to the number of allocated seats, meaning the candidates will be declared winners by acclamation.

He added that the Amman industry chamber elections include the board of directors and the ten industrial sectors that make up the Jordan Industry Chamber, explaining that each sector has one seat, and one candidate has been nominated for each seat, which also means that the seats will be decided by acclamation.

Regarding the commerce chamber elections, Al-Habashneh pointed out that they will be broader than the industry chamber elections, as they include 16 electoral districts distributed across various governorates of the Kingdom, noting that the Commission has formed committees in the commercial chambers and has begun verifying voter lists.

He explained that the voter lists for the commerce chambers include commercial institutions with a capital of more than 5,000 dinars registered with the commerce chambers as a general body, pointing out that the preliminary lists will be published next week, followed by their verification and the opening of the appeals period, then the opening of the nomination period.

Al-Habashneh pointed out that the Commission is preparing to conduct the commerce chamber elections on December 5th, and if the legal quorum is not completed, the elections will be held on December 12th, which is the scheduled date for holding the elections in case the quorum is not achieved on the first date.

Regarding the attraction of cadres working in the electoral committees, Al-Habashneh said that the Commission has made a major development in the mechanism for attracting cadres by launching the 'Jaaez' platform, an electronic platform that allows for remote learning for those wishing to participate in managing the electoral process.

He explained that those wishing to work in the electoral committees register through the link designated for the platform on the Commission's website, then begin the learning process, which may take one or two days, depending on the trainee's activity, and includes watching interactive videos and undergoing a simulation of managing the electoral process.

He added that passing the platform's exam results in obtaining a certificate that qualifies its holder to compete for participation in the electoral committees, confirming that the platform represents the main gateway for those wishing to be part of managing the electoral process.

Al-Habashneh emphasized that the importance of the 'Jaaez' platform lies in organizing the process of attracting cadres and not relying on requests for participation in an unorganized manner, as it allows those interested to learn about the details of the electoral process through specialized training paths, leading to simulation, examination, and obtaining a certificate.

He pointed out that the platform includes 18 training paths, the trainee chooses the path that suits him, then undergoes training, simulation, and examination, explaining that obtaining the certificate qualifies him to enter the competition for membership in the electoral committees.

He said that the Commission will not rely on personal contacts to request participation in the committees, but will attract the cadres it needs through the 'Jaaez' platform, allowing the applicants to be subjected to the examination and determining the participants in managing the electoral process based on their results.
