The Independent Election Commission's Board of Commissioners set Saturday, December 5, 2026, as the date for the election of members of the boards of directors of the chambers of commerce and representatives of commercial sectors.
The Director of Operations at the Commission, Nasser Al-Habashneh, said on Tuesday that the voting will take place on the specified date, with Saturday, December 12, being the alternative date in case the legal quorum for the General Assembly meeting is not completed.
Al-Habashneh added that the submission of nomination applications will start on the upcoming October 20 and will continue for 3 days, in accordance with the provisions of the Chambers of Commerce System.
The Council of Ministers had decided in a previous session to dissolve the Board of Directors of the Chambers of Commerce as of September 27 of the current year.
The Council also decided to assign the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Al-Qudah, to submit the names of the members of the Chambers of Commerce Management Committees to the Council of Ministers; in preparation for holding the elections in accordance with the provisions of the governing legislation.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Al-Qudah, attributed the formation of temporary committees to manage the affairs of the Chambers of Commerce, in preparation for holding the elections.
