Minister of Education and Human Resources Development Azmi Mahafzah directed on Thursday to study the needs of a number of schools in the Al-Ardah district of Balqa Governorate, and the possibility of adding new classrooms to improve the educational environment, in addition to studying the modernization of computer and science laboratories in schools that require them, and the maintenance of external fences, courtyards, and school playgrounds.

The directives included carrying out necessary maintenance work for some classrooms, including painting and other requirements, as part of a field tour carried out by a ministerial delegation to review the needs of schools, infrastructure, public facilities, and service and development sectors in the Al-Ardah district.

Mahafzah also directed to study the possibility of utilizing a piece of land donated by Ayoub Al-Nuaimat, a local resident, for the benefit of the Bayoudah Girls' School, to examine the possibility of building classroom additions on it, in addition to studying the needs of the Saihan School and the possibility of adding new classrooms there, according to actual needs and available resources.

The ministerial delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Walid Al-Masri, and Ministers of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Al-Samen, Education and Human Resources Development Azmi Mahafzah, Interior Mazen Al-Faraya, and Youth Raed Al-Adwan.

The delegation was accompanied during the tour by Secretary-General for Technical Affairs Wasim Al-Adwan, Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs Raed Halahleh, and Head of the Al-Ardah Municipal Committee Khalida Al-Khalifat.

The delegation began its tour by visiting the Al-Hussein bin Abdullah Sports City in Salt, where it inspected the sports complex facilities and the youth center, as part of following up on the status of sports and youth facilities and their role in supporting community initiatives and activities.

The delegation then moved to the Al-Ardah district, where the tour included the areas of Sumia, Aliqoun, Bayoudah Al-Sharqiya, and Al-Subaihi, to inspect on the ground the state of infrastructure and services provided to citizens and the needs of schools and public facilities, in addition to inspecting a number of roads and following up on their needs for paving, maintenance, and lighting.

The tour also included following up on the needs of the sports and youth sector, reviewing the experiences and initiatives of youth at the Al-Ardah Youth and Girls Center, discussing ways to support youth activities and develop sports facilities, and studying the possibility of establishing school playgrounds in coordination with the Ministry of Youth.

MP Hakam Al-Maadat confirmed to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the visit constituted an important opportunity to directly review the needs of the Al-Ardah district, pointing to the importance of following up on the conditions of schools, infrastructure, roads, lighting, and paving, and working to study appropriate solutions for the needs raised during the tour.

Al-Maadat said that the Al-Ardah district needs more development and investment projects, given its strategic importance and agricultural and tourism potential, calling for repeated field visits to the region and following up on its needs on the ground.

He added that among the most prominent demands that need follow-up are the development of the road network, improving the reality of schools, enhancing services and infrastructure, in addition to studying the possibility of creating a tourist path in the Al-Ardah area, which contributes to highlighting its natural, agricultural, and tourism components, and opening new horizons for investment and local development.

The tour comes within the framework of assessing service, educational, and development needs on the ground, and following up on the proposals and demands raised and studying them by the competent authorities, in preparation for taking appropriate measures according to priorities and available resources.
