Free psychological support and counseling for all Jordan University of Science and Technology students via the "Amal Platform"

The President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Salem, emphasized the importance of developing the services of the electronic "Amal Platform" (AMAL e-Clinic) to include providing free psychological support and social counseling services to all university students, contributing to the promotion of mental health and providing a supportive university environment for students.

This came as he chaired a meeting dedicated to following up on the project's achievements, stages of progress, and sustainability plans, which included providing 1,640 psychological and social support and counseling sessions, at a rate of ten sessions per beneficiary, in addition to training and qualifying 30 female specialists from the university to provide psychological counseling services according to approved professional protocols.

The meeting addressed future expansion and sustainability plans, which include strengthening specialized staff, developing the technical and operational infrastructure of the platform, ensuring information confidentiality and data protection, as well as enhancing integration with health and student services at the university to ensure the continuity of services and expand the pool of beneficiaries.

The project is implemented with funding from Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC), led by Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Yahya, and with the participation of the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Nihaya Al-Sheyab, Project Manager and Co-Principal Investigator.

The project aims to develop a digital model for providing mental health services, psychosocial support, and reproductive health awareness, by providing secure and easily accessible resources, including awareness content, self-help resources, initial assessment, counseling, and follow-up, along with referral to specialized entities when needed.

The platform provides its services through its website www.amal.jo, as part of the university's efforts to develop sustainable digital initiatives in the field of mental health, expand the scope of supporting services provided to students, ensure easy access to psychological and social support and counseling services, raise awareness of the importance of mental health and ways to maintain it, and contribute to providing a safe and supportive university environment that takes into account student needs and supports their psychological and social stability.
