Board of Trustees of Jordan University of Science and Technology reviews qualitative projects at the university to enhance environmental sustainability and renewable energy

The President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, Prof. Khalid El-Salem, received today, Thursday, the Chairman and members of the University's Board of Trustees, headed by H.E. Prof. Redha Al-Khawaldeh, during a visit in which they reviewed a number of environmental sustainability and renewable energy projects at the university, including the purification plant designated for treating water and reusing it for irrigating crops and olive trees within the campus, in addition to the 5 and 10 megawatt solar cell electricity generation projects.

The Chairman and members of the Board listened to an explanation about the mechanism of the purification plant and its role in treating water and reusing it to irrigate green spaces and trees, which contributes to rationalizing water consumption, enhancing the efficiency of water resource management, and preserving the university environment.

The Board also reviewed the two solar energy projects designated for producing electricity from renewable sources through a self-consumption system within the campus, and listened to an explanation about the technical equipment, the mechanism of the approved systems, and their role in providing electrical energy, reducing consumption costs, and limiting reliance on traditional energy sources.

The Board valued the efforts of the university administration, engineering and technical staff, and workers in implementing these projects, and their role in enhancing environmental sustainability, rationalizing water and energy consumption, and raising the efficiency of resource use, in a way that supports the university's directions towards adopting sustainable practices and improving operational spending efficiency.
