The Attorney General of the Federation in the UAE, Hamad Al Shamsi, ordered the formation of an investigation team from specialized members of the Public Prosecution to investigate the incident of Fly Dubai flight number (FZ1073), which was heading from Dubai International Airport to Tel Aviv, before it was diverted and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Thursday, the investigation follows the announcement by Fly Dubai of a dispute in the cockpit during the flight, which required the intervention of the company's crew on board the aircraft to secure it.
The investigation team began its work in coordination with the General Civil Aviation Authority and the relevant authorities in the UAE, while the Attorney General directed the necessary measures to be taken to gather information and evidence, and to determine the truth, circumstances, and motives of the incident, and to verify its connection to any terrorist activity or purpose or prior planning or direction.
The agency explained that the judicial authorities in the UAE are responsible for investigating the incident in accordance with the applicable legislation, considering that the aircraft is registered in the country and carries its flag, which entails the application of UAE law on crimes committed on board, even if they occur outside the territory of the country.
