King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba received, on Friday, the first flight coming from Abu Dhabi, as part of a regular air route operated by Royal Jordanian Airlines, in a move that enhances direct air connectivity between Aqaba and regional markets, and supports the tourist movement coming to the city and the Golden Triangle.
The Commissioner of Tourism at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Thabet Al-Nabulsi, confirmed that the authority continues its efforts to open new tourist markets, focusing on regional and surrounding markets, with the aim of enhancing the tourist movement coming to Aqaba city.
Al-Nabulsi explained that the inauguration of direct air routes connecting Aqaba to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi contributes to facilitating the arrival of tourists to the city, and provides them with the opportunity to benefit from the tourist attractions that Aqaba, Wadi Rum, and Petra are rich in, within the Golden Triangle route.
He added that promotional campaigns are ongoing in cooperation with Royal Jordanian Airlines and the 'Explore Jordan' application, in partnership with the private sector, particularly the hotel and national carrier sectors, noting that work is underway to prepare integrated tourist packages that include arrival services, accommodation, and various tourist experiences.
The regularity of new air flights throughout the year enhances direct travel options to Aqaba, and supports the tourism sector's efforts to attract new markets, in line with the directions of developing the tourist product and enhancing the city's competitiveness as an integrated tourist destination.
