Aqaba Launches Direct Air Route with Riyadh to Boost Tourism and Investment

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), in cooperation with the national carrier, Royal Jordanian Airlines, has launched an extensive marketing and promotional tour in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

According to an ASEZA statement on Saturday, the tour comes to implement the terms of the cooperation agreement between the two parties, under which direct and regular international flights between Aqaba and Riyadh were launched. This aligns with efforts to enhance air connectivity, stimulate tourist and investment flows, and solidify Aqaba's position as a leading regional destination on the tourism and business map.

ASEZA Commissioner for Tourism and Youth, Thabet Nabulsi, emphasized that the launch of this direct route marks the inauguration of a new and qualitative phase in developing Aqaba's air connectivity system via King Hussein International Airport.

Nabulsi explained, this strategic partnership with Royal Jordanian aims to open new and sustainable tourism markets, serving the economic vision of the special zone and meeting the aspirations of visitors from Saudi Arabia.

For his part, Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer at Royal Jordanian, stated that according to the approved operational plan, direct flights between Aqaba and Riyadh will be operated twice a week via King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba, with the first official flight taking off on September 17 of this month.
