Development projects in Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi invest in people and enhance future opportunities

Developmental paths in the Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi district vary between productive and training projects aimed at empowering women and enhancing local community participation, and educational projects that contribute to developing school infrastructure and improving the educational environment, in a model that reflects the importance of partnership between official institutions, local associations, and supporting entities in investing in people and promoting sustainable development opportunities.

The Local Community Development Center in Muhi stands out as a model for development work that responds to the needs of the residents in the Muhi and Al-Hamadiyah areas, which are home to about nine thousand people, through vocational training, awareness initiatives, and support for productive projects.

One of the center's most prominent experiences is the local Jameed production project, which was launched with the support of the German Adult Education Association and allowed local community women to employ their skills in producing one of the most prominent traditional food products in the Kingdom. The project is still ongoing in the Al-Marj area, under the supervision of a local community woman, and it previously received a visit from Her Majesty the Queen.

The ladies' salon in Muhi continues its work as another experience in the field of vocational training and women's empowerment, as it allows women to benefit from beauty skills in a continuous productive activity, confirming the importance of linking training to practical opportunities that help beneficiaries work and produce.

The center's cooperation with the German Adult Education Association has extended for more than 13 years, and included training on making sweets, soap, cosmetics, and other professions and crafts, with program priorities determined according to the needs of the local community and the suggestions of the women.

The center has also been cooperating for about three years with the French Expertise organization on programs aimed at enhancing social solidarity and caring for the elderly and people with disabilities, with the cooperation continuing until the end of 2028, in addition to organizing awareness lectures and implementing initiatives in cooperation with associations and institutions operating in the region.

In the education sector, the district witnessed the implementation of school projects with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Saudi entities, and the Royal Hashemite Court, with the aim of improving the school environment and providing facilities that meet the needs of students.

The Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Directorate of Education for the Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi District, Dr. Etemad Jamil Al-Jaafreh, said that the grants contributed to developing educational infrastructure and providing a more suitable school environment, which reflects positively on the educational process.

She explained that the cost of establishing Ruqayyah Bint Al-Rasool School, with a grant from USAID, reached about 3.5 million dinars, while the Royal Hashemite Court grant for Al-Manshiyah Secondary School for Boys reached 850 thousand dinars, the cost of the Saudi grant for Dhat Ras Secondary School for Girls was 2.5 million dinars, and the grant for Umm Hamat Secondary School for Boys was 1 million and 650 thousand dinars. She added that work is underway to establish the Shuqayra Elementary School for Boys, with a grant from the Royal Hashemite Court amounting to about three million dinars, confirming that these projects contribute to enhancing the schools' ability to accommodate students, reduce overcrowding, and improve the educational environment.

Al-Jaafreh emphasized that the importance of developing schools is not limited to buildings and facilities, but includes providing courtyards, theaters, and spaces designated for cultural and educational activities, which helps students discover their talents, refine their skills, and enhance their participation in various events.

These experiences reflect the diversity of development areas in the Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi district, from empowering women and developing their professional and productive capabilities to improving the educational environment and providing broader opportunities for students to learn and innovate.

The importance of continuing partnerships between official institutions, supporting entities, and local associations is highlighted, in addition to following up on the impact of projects, measuring their results, and developing them according to the needs of the beneficiaries, to ensure their sustainability and enhance their reflection on the lives of citizens. Between productive projects that preserve local heritage and provide job opportunities, and modern schools that support learning and talent development, the importance of investing in people as the foundation of sustainable development and a driver for enhancing the community's ability to produce, initiate, and achieve is highlighted.
