Director General of the Department of Statistics and National Director of the 2026 General Population and Housing Census, Dr. Haidar Fraihat, announced the extension of data collection operations for an additional three weeks to complete work in blocks and areas where enumeration procedures have not yet been finalized, in parallel with the implementation of the post-enumeration survey phase to verify census comprehensiveness.

Fraihat explained today, Sunday, that the main phase of field enumeration, which lasted for a full month, saw families visited across various regions of the Kingdom, while census staff continue to complete data and verify the completeness and accuracy of information through approved verification methods and field visits, in preparation for completing subsequent technical and statistical tasks.

He said that the Kingdom was divided into approximately 24,000 enumeration areas where census operations are being carried out according to a sequence covering regions, buildings, apartments, households, and individuals, emphasizing the importance of completing all enumeration procedures in designated blocks before closing them to ensure all homes and families are included.

He pointed out that the post-enumeration survey phase aims to verify the extent of the census's comprehensiveness, assess data quality, and ensure that no families or individuals are missed, thereby enhancing the reliability of the final results.

He added that the census operations room monitors data collection and works to correct errors directly during the collection process, a mechanism implemented for the first time in the current census, which contributes to improving data accuracy and the quality of statistical outputs.

He noted that the Department of Statistics will continue to complete, audit, process, and analyze data collection operations in preparation for announcing the final results of the 2026 General Population and Housing Census during the first quarter of 2027.

Fraihat expressed his appreciation to citizens and residents in the Kingdom for their cooperation with field researchers and for facilitating their tasks, valuing the efforts of the Prime Ministry, ministries, and official institutions in supporting the implementation of the census and creating the necessary conditions to accomplish its work.

He also extended his thanks to the Ministry of Education and its staff, field researchers and census workers, administrative governors, coordination and technical committees, security services, telecommunications companies, technical entities, public and private institutions, civil society organizations, national and international bodies, the media committee and media outlets, and the staff of the Department of Statistics, in recognition of their efforts and cooperation in executing this national mission according to the highest standards of statistical accuracy and quality.
