Tomorrow, the General Census of Population and Housing 2026 Begins

Tomorrow, Thursday, the General Census of Population and Housing for 2026 will commence and continue until the 31st of October, as determined by the Council of Ministers.

The census process will begin during the first three days of October with a self-counting phase electronically, followed by a field counting phase to reach households and dwellings in various regions of the Kingdom and complete data collection.

According to the plan prepared by the Department of Statistics, an electronic link for self-counting will be sent via the 'Sind' application to individuals who have previously expressed their desire to complete their data themselves and provided the Department with their phone numbers for this purpose, allowing them to complete their family and housing data electronically.

After the self-counting phase ends on October 3rd, the actual field counting will begin on the 4th of the month through approximately 12,000 field researchers from the Department of Statistics, Ministry of Education teachers, human resource development, and employees of institutions participating in the census implementation.

The census includes all residents and dwellings in the Kingdom, both citizens and residents, with the aim of providing up-to-date, comprehensive, and accurate data on the population and housing, which forms the basis for planning, policy-making, and decision-making in various sectors.

The Department of Statistics will use a modern digital system for data collection and processing during the census, while urging citizens and residents to cooperate with field researchers and provide the required information accurately.

The Department emphasized that the provided data will be treated with utmost confidentiality, inviting households to verify the identity of the field researcher through their statistical identity card equipped with an electronic code on the card they carry during the visit.

The census aims to provide an updated picture of the population and housing situation in the Kingdom, which helps in identifying actual needs and planning services and projects in sectors including education, health, housing, transportation, infrastructure, and public services.
