Citizens in Irbid Governorate, especially those living in the South District, North District, Taabal, Al-Ula, Beit Ras, and Hour areas, have demanded that their streets and residential neighborhoods be included in the paving and asphalt projects implemented by the Municipality, affirming that there are large areas and streets within the neighborhoods that are in dire need of rehabilitation and maintenance.
The residents pointed out that despite the major projects carried out by the Greater Irbid Municipality, the need remains urgent to direct part of these works towards the secondary and internal streets in their areas to facilitate the movement of citizens and alleviate their daily suffering.
In response to the citizens' demands, the Director of Engineering Projects at the Municipality, Engineer Tahani Al-Hizaimeh, revealed that the Municipality has issued tenders for paving and asphalt mixes worth approximately 2.4 million Jordanian Dinars, affirming that a large portion of these tenders targets the internal streets and neighborhoods in various areas of the governorate.
Al-Hizaimeh emphasized that the implementation of this tender will have a significant impact on improving the infrastructure of the city's roads and maintaining a large number of streets and repairing defects in them, while also noting that the work will include the reconstruction of some roads, paving main roads and within neighborhoods, and includes maintenance work for some streets.
She added that the Municipality will also implement asphalt mixes for some new streets located within residential neighborhoods, due to the urgent need for this, and with the aim of facilitating access for residents and providing them with the service.
Al-Hizaimeh explained that the current paving and asphalt mix works will focus on the streets of Beit Ras and Hour areas, while also noting that there is a study underway to pave the Shuhada' Al-Balat Street located near the Irbid Camp, as part of the Municipality's plan to address the needs of various areas and to include the largest possible area in the rehabilitation.
