Cybercrime Unit arrests an online fraudster via mobile phone sales

* Do not deal with suspicious buying and selling pages, and it is necessary to be accurate before making any electronic financial transfer

The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate said that personnel in the Cybercrime Unit, while dealing with a number of complaints filed by citizens after they were subjected to electronic financial fraud after communicating with an online page that offers mobile phones for sale in installments and asks them to pay initial amounts (a deposit) and then defrauding them and stealing the money, were able to identify the fraudster who created that page and defrauded citizens through it.

The media spokesperson confirmed that the location of that person was identified, raided, and he was arrested. Investigations revealed the involvement of three other people with him; one of them was arrested and a search is underway for the other two. Upon searching the residence of those arrested, large sums of money, wristwatches, and gold jewelry were seized, and they were all impounded and will be referred to the judiciary.

The media spokesperson renewed his appeal to everyone to be accurate and cautious during electronic buying and selling operations, not to deal with suspicious and unverified pages, to avoid them, and to always verify before sending money electronically to avoid being subjected to electronic financial fraud.
