The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate said that the Cybercrime Unit renews its warning against the fraudulent method it has previously dealt with and warned against, as it continues to receive numerous complaints about visual and audio calls through various applications, during which callers claimed to be officers in security agencies and asked them to provide personal documents and data and review the security agencies the next day. Fraudsters then use the information they obtained to steal accounts or financial balances before the victims realize they have been defrauded.

The spokesperson urged citizens to exercise caution and vigilance when receiving unknown calls, not to engage with anyone who calls via electronic applications and claims to be from security agencies, as security agencies do not resort to such methods in investigations or when requesting anyone, and not to provide anyone with personal data through calls, urging everyone that when such calls occur, they should report them directly to the concerned authorities via the unified emergency phone number 911 or through the contact channels of the Cybercrime Unit or by visiting the criminal investigation branches at the nearest security center.
