Closing of Amman Puppet Arts Days to Enhance Children's Educational Theater

Today marks the conclusion of the first edition of the festival «Amman Puppet Arts Days»organized by the Directorate of Child Culture at the Ministry of Culture, at the Osama Al-Mushahini Theater in Jabal Al-Luweibdeh.

The Minister of Culture, Mustafa Al-Ruwaishdeh, emphasized the importance of the festival as a new creative field added to the Child Culture Directorate's program and theatrical arts programs, noting that puppetry is a creative and expressive means that combines imagination, manual skill, and theatrical performance, transforming simple materials into lifelike characters.

He pointed out that puppetry is one of the most prominent educational, cultural, and awareness tools that contribute to enhancing the system of values and daily behaviors among children, due to its ability to address their imagination, alongside its potential to document the Jordanian narrative, simplifying «The Story of the Land and the Human» and its details in an engaging visual and auditory language.

The ceremony included a performance by the Forum of the Arab Child, inspired by the Dabke and Jordanian folk heritage, while the «Days» event began with a puppet show «I Am Happy, I Play, and I Learn»directed by Khaled Al-Muslimani and presented by the Zarqa Theater Arts Troupe.

The event continued for three days, within a specialized artistic and cultural program dedicated to puppet arts, with the participation of artists and specialized troupes, including puppet theater performances, dialogue seminars, and a workshop on making and animating puppets, alongside activities for children, allowing them to interact directly with this art that combines performance, imagination, movement, and image.

The event aims to enhance the presence of puppet arts in the Jordanian cultural scene, introduce its various techniques and styles, and provide artistic content that combines entertainment with educational value, contributing to the development of children's imagination and strengthening their connection with theater and the arts. The first edition seeks to establish a specialized artistic event that can be developed in future editions, allowing for the expansion of participation by local artists and troupes, opening the door to hosting Arab and international experiences in the field of puppet and puppetry arts, and enhancing the presence of this art in the Jordanian theatrical and cultural scene.
