British Prime Minister Andy Burnham called for an emergency meeting on Monday following the incident near Fairford Base.
The British Counter-Terrorism Police said that 5 people were released on bail in connection with the incident near the base, noting that their release does not mean the end of the investigation but that they are still under investigation.
The police added: "We are investigating the possibility that the incident near Fairford Base was carried out by agents on behalf of foreign countries"
The Iranian Embassy in London on Monday categorically denied speculation about Tehran's involvement in a plot to attack a British military airbase used by US forces.
London police announced on Sunday the arrest of five people suspected of planning a "terrorist act", following a "major incident" that occurred at night near a military base used by the US Air Force in western England.
The British police said on Sunday that they had arrested several men on suspicion of violating the Explosives Act, while the army was examining a number of vehicles after tightening security measures at Fairford Air Base in southwest England, which is used by the US Air Force.
