Official, union, popular, and youth positions in Aqaba Governorate reflected a wide interaction with the speech of His Majesty King Abdullah II before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, and what it carried of clear messages towards the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem, Jordan's security and sovereignty and national interests, and the responsibility of the international community in dealing with the region's crises.
The positions addressed the contents of the royal speech from national, humanitarian, and regional angles, emphasizing Jordan's constants in defending peace and justice, protecting Jerusalem and its holy sites, and rejecting the imposition of fait accompli, alongside preserving the security of the Kingdom, its interests, and facing the challenges witnessed by the region.
Musa Al-Dardasawi, President of the Aqaba Governorate Council, confirmed that the speech of His Majesty King Abdullah II before the United Nations General Assembly carried clear political messages, reflecting the steadfastness of the Jordanian position towards the issues of the region, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, and placing the international community before its responsibilities in facing the crises, warning that the continuation of ignoring and procrastination in enforcing international law and turning decisions into actions will make the crises a permanent reality, and silence a position with consequences.
He said that His Majesty the King emphasized that Jordan, while adhering to peace and political solutions, does not overlook its national security, sovereignty, and interests, pointing out that the concept of security is no longer limited to protecting borders, but includes water, food, energy security, economic stability, job opportunities, and the future of Jordanians.
He added that Jordan will remain a state of institutions, law, and diplomacy, contributing to the making of solutions and not accepting that its stability be the price of the region's crises or that its repercussions turn into a fait accompli at the expense of its national interests.
Dardasawi stressed the support of the Aqaba Governorate Council for the national positions and constants expressed by His Majesty the King, confirming that the Palestinian issue, Jerusalem, and the holy sites and the two-state solution are not seasonal headlines in Jordanian policy, but rather established constants, and that Jordan will continue its role in defending them and in supporting stability and peace, based on the vision of its Hashemite leadership that real peace is not based on managing crises or ignoring rights, but on addressing their roots and achieving justice and preserving the security of countries and peoples.
For its part, the Committee of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate - Aqaba Branch, said that the speech of His Majesty the King before the international community reflects a steadfast Jordanian position in defending the sovereignty of the Kingdom, its security, and its national interests, foremost of which are border security and water security, alongside supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and calling for respect for international law and the decisions of international legitimacy, and confirmed that the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem represents a steadfast historical position for Jordan, alongside the Kingdom's continued adoption of dialogue and diplomacy and adherence to humanitarian values as a means to achieve peace.
Ahmed Al-Ghanemat, Director of the Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Center for Empowering Communities in Aqaba, said that the speech of His Majesty the King before the United Nations carried established national and humanitarian messages, clearly expressing the Jordanian constants in consolidating peace, protecting human beings, and defending the values of security, stability, and justice.
He added that the unity of Jordan, the cohesion of its people, and the solidarity of its sons will remain the main pillar on which the nation relies in facing challenges and preserving its achievements and gains.
He also confirmed that the security of Jordan, the safety of Jordanians, the protection of their lives, and the stability of their lives represent a national priority that does not accept compromise, and that the real strength of Jordan lies in its national unity, in the awareness of its sons, and in their keenness to prioritize the supreme national interest, and pointed to the necessity of standing in a single row in everything that enhances the security of the homeland and its stability, preserves the dignity of the citizen, and preserves Jordan as a safe and stable homeland, proud of its positions, steadfast in its principles, and capable of continuing its journey with confidence towards a more secure and prosperous future.
Father Thomas Zayadin, priest of the Church of St. Nicholas of the Greek Orthodox in Aqaba, confirmed that the speech of His Majesty the King carried a clear moral and political message to the international community, and that the Jordanian position embodies a steadfast commitment to humanitarian principles and values, and confirms that Jordan continues to play its role in defending peace, justice, and dialogue, and rejecting the conversion of humanitarian issues and holy sites into subjects subject to changing political calculations.
He pointed out that the speech of His Majesty the King carried a clear position to the world towards protecting the Christian presence in the East and its holy sites, alongside defending Islamic holy sites, in a comprehensive message confirming that the preservation of holy sites is no less important than the responsibility of protecting human beings and their right to practice their beliefs freely and with dignity, and that this steadfast Hashemite approach in caring for the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem reflects Jordan's historical commitment to preserving the identity of the Holy City and its holy sites.
In the same context, retired Colonel Fahd Muwfaq Al-Naimat explained that the speech of His Majesty King Abdullah II constituted a new station for affirming the Jordanian presence and its steadfast positions towards the issues of the region, under the leadership of the Hashemite leader who, when he speaks, everyone falls silent to listen carefully; his speech carries the vision of a leader, the wisdom of a king, and a sincere concern for Jordan and its people, and this was embodied in the affirmation that Jordan will not turn away, but will protect its security, water, and the interests of its people, while continuing to defend the Palestinian cause and support the security and stability of Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, reflecting the steadfastness of the Jordanian position and its regional responsibility.
Dr. Omar Al-Ashaosh, Coordinator of the Youth Body 'We Are All Jordan' in Aqaba Governorate, confirmed that the speech of His Majesty King Abdullah II before the United Nations General Assembly went beyond describing the crises to trying to rearrange the priorities of international attention towards a region where transformations are accelerating and sources of threat are intertwined.
He said that His Majesty placed the Palestinian issue at the heart of the scene, warning of the continuation of the Israeli escalation policy and the policy of imposing new facts, especially in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, and directly linking it to the security and stability of the region.
In contrast, the speech carried clear messages related to Jordanian national and regional security and the risks arising from Israeli expansion in southern Syria to drug and terrorist threats, up to the challenges of water security, which represents a strategic issue for Jordan that goes beyond its developmental dimension.
Ashaosh believes that the other dimension of the speech highlighted Jerusalem as a Jordanian constant that cannot be separated from the Palestinian issue, through affirming the Hashemite custodianship and preserving the historical and legal status quo in Islamic and Christian holy sites, alongside continuing to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and continuing to support the UNRWA.
The members of the Aqaba House Diwan, representing the Aqaba tribes, expressed pride and appreciation for the royal speech delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II, son of Hussein, before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
They said that the royal speech placed the international community before its historical, moral, and legal responsibilities, confirming that ignoring crises does not end them, and that silence about injustice does not make peace, and that what is ignored today may turn into a permanent reality that threatens the security and stability of peoples and the future of generations.
The Diwan affirmed its full support for the steadfast Jordanian position towards the Palestinian issue and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and the rejection of displacement and the imposition of fait accompli, and the rejection of any attempts to change the facts on the ground or to exceed international law and international legitimacy.
