Amman Stock Exchange Crowned Best Performing Arab Stock Exchange for 2025, Al-Wazahfi Confirms: "A National Achievement Reflecting Our Economy's Resilience"

The CEO of Amman Stock Exchange, Mazen Al-Wazahfi, announced the official receipt of the "Union of Arab Capital Markets Award for 2025" as the best performing Arab stock exchange in terms of price index growth, during a ceremony held in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi.

Al-Wazahfi confirmed, during a press conference held to highlight this achievement, that the recognition comes in appreciation of the outstanding performance achieved by the stock exchange during the past year, coinciding with the positive and upward trajectory of the national economy despite regional and international challenges.

Record Digital Indicators

Al-Wazahfi reviewed the most prominent digital indicators achieved by the stock exchange, noting that the general price index of stocks rose by 45.1%, surpassing all Arab and Gulf markets. The total return index also recorded a growth of 58.52%, and the market value increased by 50%. Regarding the average daily trading volume, he explained that it witnessed successive jumps from 4.4 million dinars in 2024 to 8.8 million dinars in 2025, reaching 13.5 million dinars currently.

He added that the listed companies achieved a strong financial performance, recording the second highest historical profits with an increase of 12.9% compared to 2024, and the upward trend continued with a 14.3% increase in net profits, enhancing their ability to operate, expand, and support government revenues.

Structural Reforms and Incentive Decisions

Al-Wazahfi attributed this success to the economic policies and structural reforms adopted by the government, primarily the exemption of mutual investment funds from income tax, which resulted in an increase in the number of operating funds from one fund to 4 funds currently. In addition to the decision to allow non-Jordanian investors wishing to obtain citizenship to move their investments within the stock exchange instead of freezing them, which injected more liquidity into the market.

He also touched on the technical and technological development witnessed by the capital market institutions (Securities Commission, Amman Stock Exchange, and the Securities Depository Center), particularly the implementation of the electronic disclosure system using the global XBRL language approved according to international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

Promising Stability and Future Vision

Al-Wazahfi emphasized that this achievement is not the result of a single institution, but rather the outcome of the combined efforts of all capital market institutions, listed companies, and financial services and brokerage firms.

Al-Wazahfi concluded by warning against complacency with success, affirming that the upcoming challenge lies in continuing to grow and expand, and in continuing to implement the strategic projects included in the economic modernization vision and the stock exchange strategy, relying on the environment of political, monetary, and financial stability enjoyed by the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
