Al-Malkawi inspects rainwater drainage infrastructure projects

The Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, Engineer Ahmad Al-Malkawi, conducted an inspection tour on Sunday of a number of rainwater drainage infrastructure projects currently being implemented by the Municipality, accompanied by the City Manager, Engineer Nabil Al-Jariri, and a number of officials from the Municipality's Public Works sector.

During the tour, Al-Malkawi reviewed the progress of work on projects to construct box culverts on Bayat Al-Ridwan Street in the Tariq district, Wadi Al-Tay in the Khreibet Al-Souq district, and Al-Salam Street in the Marj Al-Hamam and Naour districts, in addition to box culverts on the West Amman Licensing Street in the Marj Al-Hamam district and Princess Tharwat Street in the Wadi Al-Seer district.

The implementation of these projects comes within the Municipality's plans to develop infrastructure, enhance public safety, improve rainwater drainage networks, and address the hotspots that experienced water accumulation during past rainy seasons.

During his inspection tour, Al-Malkawi stressed the importance of harnessing all the Municipality's capabilities to provide the best services to Amman and its citizens, ensuring the sustainability of infrastructure work with efficiency and effectiveness, and enhancing the efficiency of rainwater drainage networks.

He directed the need to accelerate the completion of the projects, in accordance with the highest technical and engineering specifications, in preparation for the winter season.

Al-Malkawi listened to a detailed explanation of the work stages in these projects, which aim to develop infrastructure, enhance public safety, and strengthen rainwater drainage networks.

During the tour, he also reviewed a comprehensive explanation from the engineering staff regarding the general condition of the rainwater drainage system in these culverts, to ensure the absorption of larger quantities of water.

It is noteworthy that the Greater Amman Municipality had floated eight tenders for the construction of box and pipe culverts for rainwater drainage at a financial cost of up to 10 million dinars, as part of its comprehensive plan to raise the efficiency of the rainwater drainage system in various regions and reduce hotspots and water accumulation during the winter season.
