A tour to monitor rainwater accumulation hotspots and landslide risks in Muta, Al-Taybeh, and Al-Iraq

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Local Administration, Engineer Mohammad Al-Amoush, accompanied by the Ministry's Director of Planning, Engineer Ashraf Abu Al-Samn, and the Director of Joint Services Councils, Engineer Alaa Al-Qaisi, conducted a field tour in the areas of Muta, Al-Taybeh, and Al-Iraq, which fall under the Muta and Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi Municipality. The tour aimed to inspect the status of hotspots and areas prone to rainwater risks, and to follow up on the most prominent challenges facing these regions as part of early preparations for the rainy season.

The tour included inspecting several sites that require field follow-up and preventive measures, assessing the nature of problems related to rainwater drainage, and evaluating their potential impact on public safety, infrastructure, and property, in addition to discussing technical needs and possible measures to mitigate risks during the upcoming rainy season.

The tour also addressed the issue of landslides in the Al-Taybeh area, where the delegation examined the site's status and the nature of the problem. They discussed existing challenges and the necessary measures to address them, contributing to reducing landslide risks and protecting citizens and property, with the goal of finding appropriate solutions based on field inspection and technical assessment of the site's nature.

The head of the Muta and Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi Municipal Committee, Dr. Abdullah Al-Abadleh, said that the tour comes within the framework of strengthening coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Local Administration and the municipality, and assessing on-site the most prominent challenges facing the municipality's areas, especially sites that experience rainwater accumulation or require intervention to reduce landslide risks.

Al-Abadleh added that the municipality attaches great importance to the rainy season preparation file by monitoring sites that may pose a risk to public safety and setting work priorities according to the nature of the problems and the needs of the areas, in coordination with the concerned authorities, stressing the importance of integrating technical and administrative efforts to reach practical and sustainable solutions.

He pointed out that following up on the landslide file in the Al-Taybeh area is one of the issues that requires precise technical assessment and continuous coordination between the municipality, the ministry, and the competent authorities, with the aim of determining appropriate measures to address the problem and limit its effects, in a way that preserves the safety of citizens and protects property and infrastructure.

Al-Abadleh emphasized the importance of field tours in diagnosing problems on the ground and identifying needs directly, which helps in directing efforts and resources toward the sites most in need of treatment and enhancing readiness to deal with expected weather conditions during the winter.

The tour comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Local Administration and the Muta and Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi Municipality to follow up on service and field issues and to enhance preventive measures and preparations for the rainy season.
