Al-Khudeir: Jordan is keen to expand the horizons of cultural and artistic cooperation with China

The Executive Director of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, Yazan Al-Khudeir, affirmed Jordan's keenness to expand the horizons of cultural and artistic cooperation with China, in a way that enhances creative exchange between the two countries and opens the way for sustainable cultural partnerships.

In a press statement on the sidelines of his visit to the China Shanghai International Arts Festival, Al-Khudeir said that culture and arts represent a common language that contributes to transcending borders and enhancing rapprochement between peoples, pointing to the importance of building on Jordanian-Chinese relations and developing cooperation between cultural and artistic institutions in both countries.

He emphasized the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah II's recent visit to China in strengthening Jordanian-Chinese relations in all fields.

He pointed out that the China Shanghai International Arts Festival, founded in 1999, represents an international platform for artistic and cultural exchange, and is considered one of the prominent cultural events in China and at the Asian regional level.

He explained that the visit to the Shanghai Festival provides an opportunity to learn about the Chinese experience in organizing and managing international festivals, and to explore opportunities for cooperation with the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, including the exchange of artists and artistic troupes, and discussing the possibility of organizing joint performances and introducing the cultural and civilizational heritage of both Jordan and China.

Regarding the mechanisms of cultural and artistic cooperation between the two sides, Al-Khudeir said that the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, with its cultural and civilizational legacy and regional and international presence, constitutes an important platform for enhancing cultural communication, noting that cooperation between festivals is not limited to the exchange of performances and events, but extends to building direct professional relationships between artists and cultural and artistic institutions.

He indicated that 2027 will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Jordan and China, which provides an opportunity to launch qualitative cultural initiatives that reflect the depth of relations between the two countries, support the building of sustainable partnerships, enhance the presence of Jordanian culture in China, and expand opportunities for artistic exchange between the two sides.

The visit and participation of the Executive Director of the Jerash Festival in the opening of the Shanghai Festival as a guest of honor, at the invitation of its management and the China Cultural Center and in coordination with the Chinese Embassy in Amman, comes in the context of efforts aimed at enhancing Jordanian-Chinese cultural cooperation and developing partnership opportunities.

In a speech by Al-Khudeir at the 6th Silk Road International Arts Festival Alliance Conference, which is held on the sidelines of the China Shanghai International Arts Festival, he spoke about the status of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, in terms of its importance and history, affirming the importance of the distinguished Chinese participation in its 40th edition.

In his speech, Al-Khudeir called for strengthening the cultural and artistic partnership with China in the upcoming editions of the Jerash Festival.
