The Executive Director of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, Yazan Al-Khodair, participated in the 6th Silk Road International League of Theaters conference, which was held on Saturday in the Chinese city of Shanghai, on the sidelines of the China Shanghai International Arts Festival.
According to a statement issued by the festival's administration on Sunday, Al-Khodair called for strengthening cultural and artistic cooperation between Jordan and China, and expanding the participation of Chinese artistic troupes in upcoming editions of the Jerash Festival, in a way that contributes to enhancing creative exchange and establishing sustainable cultural partnerships between the two countries.
Al-Khodair emphasized the importance of Chinese participation in the recent 40th edition of the Jerash Festival, pointing to the cultural and historical status that the festival enjoys at both the regional and international levels.
He explained that participating in the Shanghai Festival allows for insight into the Chinese experience in organizing and managing international festivals, exploring cooperation opportunities, including the exchange of artists and artistic troupes, discussing the possibility of organizing joint performances, and introducing the cultural and civilizational heritage of Jordan and China.
He pointed out that culture and arts form a common language for enhancing rapprochement between peoples, emphasizing the importance of building on Jordanian-Chinese relations and developing cooperation between cultural and artistic institutions in both countries.
Al-Khodair noted that 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Jordan and China, which provides an opportunity to launch joint cultural initiatives and enhance the presence of Jordanian culture in China.
He affirmed the importance of the recent visit of King Abdullah II to China in strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.
Al-Khodair's participation in the Shanghai Festival, which began its activities last Thursday and continues until November 15, comes in his capacity as a guest of honor, at the invitation of the festival's administration and the Chinese Cultural Center, and in coordination with the Chinese Embassy in Amman.
The China Shanghai International Arts Festival, founded in 1999, is considered one of the most prominent cultural and artistic events in China and Asia.
