Al-Jafr records the highest rainfall in the Kingdom with 15.8 mm over 72 hours

The Al-Jafr area recorded 15.8 mm of rain over the past 72 hours, recording the highest amount of rainfall in the Kingdom, followed by Qatrana with 6 mm, Tafilah with 5.5 mm, Aqaba with 2.6 mm, and Shoubak with 0.8 mm, according to Tareq Al-Shara'an, a weather forecaster at the Jordan Meteorological Department.

Al-Shara'an said, during his appearance on Al-Mamlaka channel on Sunday, that the Kingdom has been affected for three days by a state of atmospheric instability resulting from the Red Sea depression, during which areas in the south and east of the Kingdom witnessed heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunder.

He expected rainfall to renew and intensify on Sunday afternoon, especially in the southern, eastern, and southeastern regions, with the possibility of heavy rainfall for short periods and hail, warning of the formation of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas.

He pointed out that limited areas in the north of the Kingdom may witness light showers of rain, while southeasterly winds will be active at intervals, and strong gusts may stir up dust in the Badia regions, leading to a decrease in horizontal visibility, especially in Ruwaished, Safawi, and the eastern regions.

Al-Shara'an urged drivers to exercise caution and care on external roads, and to stay away from water channels and low-lying areas in anticipation of torrents.

The state of atmospheric instability will continue on Monday, with expectations of scattered showers in parts of the south and east of the Kingdom, which may sometimes be heavy in the afternoon and accompanied by thunder, lightning, and hail, with the possibility of extending to parts of the central-eastern regions, and light evening showers in parts of the north of the Kingdom.
