The Meteorology Department warned of rainfall that may sometimes be heavy, and the risk of lightning and thunder, in the southern and eastern regions of the Kingdom.
It said in a statement that the latest satellite images showed amounts of thunderclouds in the southern regions of the Kingdom, including northern Aqaba, Shoubak, Tafila, Karak, and Ma'an, in addition to Mafraq, southern Amman, and parts of Al-Zarqa, due to the Kingdom's continued exposure to a state of atmospheric instability.
The Al-Jafr area recorded 15.8 mm of rain over the past 72 hours, recording the highest rainfall in the Kingdom, followed by Al-Qatraneh with 6 mm, Tafila with 5.5 mm, Aqaba with 2.6 mm, Shoubak with 0.8 mm, according to the weather forecaster at the Meteorology Department, Tariq Al-Shuraan.
Al-Shuraan said during his appearance on the "Kingdom" channel on Sunday that the Kingdom has been affected for three days by a state of atmospheric instability caused by the Red Sea depression, during which areas in the southern and eastern parts of the Kingdom experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunder.
He expected the rainfall to renew and intensify in the afternoon of Sunday, especially in the southern, eastern, and southeastern regions, with the possibility of heavy rainfall for short periods and hail, warning of the formation of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas.
