Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez called on the nation's young women and men today, Monday, to confront attempts to incite strife and hate speech targeting the Kingdom in cyberspace by employing their digital capabilities and technological skills.
During his meeting with the Karama and Wafa Youth Commission at the Senate, Al-Fayez said, "The Kingdom is facing economic and security challenges due to the situation in the region. Jordan, due to its geopolitical location, has faced numerous challenges since its founding, yet it has remained a strong state, resilient against collapse, thanks to the wisdom of our Hashemite leadership, the awareness of our people, the strength of our security services and armed forces, and the stability of our constitutional institutions."
He added during the meeting, which focused on "Jordan, its current reality, and its challenges," that "in our current time, these challenges have increased and have begun to threaten our national and regional security due to the chaos sweeping the region, the repercussions of October 7, the Iranian-American-Israeli war and its consequences for the region, and the spread of terrorism, extremism, and the scourge of drugs."
Al-Fayez indicated that "the most dangerous challenge is the continuation of the aggressive and expansionist policies of the Israeli occupation state, its pursuit of liquidating the Palestinian cause, forcibly displacing Palestinians to Jordan, making Jordan an alternative homeland for Palestinians, in addition to its desperate attempts to tamper with the Hashemite Custodianship."
He pointed out that "His Majesty King Abdullah II is aware of the scale of these dangers and challenges and is confronting them strongly, just as His Majesty confronts the suspicious schemes that target our national constants or infringe upon the sovereignty and stability of the homeland."
Al-Fayez noted that "His Majesty the King, in his speech before the United Nations General Assembly, emphasized the protection of Jordanian constants, and indicated in his speech that Jordan's security, its northern borders, and its water security are an integral part of its national security. This strong royal stance reflects the constants of the Jordanian state in protecting its supreme interests and dealing with any threat to its security and stability."
Al-Fayez mentioned that His Majesty the King also emphasized that Jordan's adherence to diplomacy does not supersede its commitment to humanitarian values, and it should not be misinterpreted as weakness. His Majesty simultaneously affirmed Jordan's commitment to a just peace, supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, continuing to carry the trust of the Hashemite Custodianship, and preserving the historical and legal status quo of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He noted that "as a result of regional conflicts, Jordan is facing economic challenges that have caused an increase in debt and rates of poverty and unemployment," stressing that "in light of the continuation of current conditions, the future will be difficult, which requires effective and bold steps to address our economic challenges, especially the water and energy sectors. Furthermore, confronting the problems of poverty and unemployment requires the establishment of major investment projects in various sectors."
Al-Fayez explained that His Majesty King Abdullah II is aware of the importance of addressing economic conditions and providing a decent life for citizens. Therefore, His Majesty presented his vision for economic modernization under the slogan "A Better Future," which is based on two main pillars: achieving accelerated growth by unleashing full economic potential and improving the quality of life for all citizens.
He stated that the government, for its part, has begun working on implementing a number of major projects within the framework of its efforts to translate His Majesty the King's vision to overcome economic challenges, especially the National Water Carrier project, as well as railway and Risha gas projects. These projects will create significant job opportunities and work to bring about economic recovery, but we must continue to establish investment projects.
Al-Fayez said that "the state of security and stability we live in, and confronting malicious agendas, the policies of the Israeli occupation state, and Iranian ambitions in the region, require everyone to rally around His Majesty King Abdullah II as he leads the battle to defend our national constants, our supreme interests, and the sovereignty and dignity of the homeland."
Regarding the nation's youth and their role in facing challenges and maintaining the security of the homeland, Al-Fayez stressed the importance of realizing that there are challenges facing our youth, including difficult living conditions and not being given the full opportunity to participate in building the nation. Therefore, it is necessary to reconsider various policies aimed at empowering youth and advancing their role.
He also added that "the concerned authorities must translate the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II regarding the necessity of providing care and attention to youth, empowering them, integrating them into the labor market, adopting their creativity, and supporting their initiatives," pointing out that "His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II gives the nation's youth his utmost care and attention, as the concerns and aspirations of the youth are at the forefront of His Highness's priorities."
Al-Fayez also affirmed that "His Highness the Crown Prince believes that youth are the true national wealth and the main engine of the development process. Therefore, he is keen to support youth initiatives, empower entrepreneurs, and support their innovations and creativity, and His Highness strives hard to give youth the opportunity to participate effectively in shaping the future and contributing to achieving sustainable development for the homeland."
He continued: "But in return, our youth must be a support to His Majesty the King as he leads the nation's path with wisdom and competence, amidst this inflamed environment around us, to continue maintaining our security and stability. Youth must move away from regionalism and parochialism, promote democratic culture, reject racism and intolerance, and consolidate belonging to the homeland and loyalty to our Hashemite leadership, represented by our King Abdullah II, may God perpetuate his reign."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Commission, Dr. Khaled Taqtaqa, said that the Commission includes 3,333 members from all parts of the country, who are united by their love for the homeland and the leader of the homeland, His Majesty King Abdullah II, and their belonging to the pure soil of Jordan, under one national identity, which is the Jordanian identity.
He pointed out that the young women and men of the Commission take it upon themselves to defend the homeland and its leader on social media platforms, where they form what he called the "Digital Border Guard," supporting the various security services in protecting the homeland and its borders, stressing that "the young women and men of the Commission have no agenda other than the national agenda."
In various and diverse interventions, the youth presented visions and ideas that focused on issues of education, employment, and the requirements of local, Arab, and international labor markets, in addition to emphasizing the importance of empowering youth politically and economically and adopting their ambitious ideas and promising initiatives related to development issues, and arming them intellectually and technologically to confront the smear campaigns that Jordan is exposed to through social media networks.
An extensive dialogue took place during which Al-Fayez answered the questions of the young women and men regarding various national issues, primarily those related to empowering youth in the political and economic aspects, and adopting their creative initiatives in various sectors and fields.
