Dr. Alaa Al-Maani from Al al-Bayt University completed two research projects in the field of linguistics during her research visit to the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world, which enjoys a prominent international academic and research standing, in collaboration with Dr. Dora Alexopoulou, an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge.
The University of Cambridge confirmed in an official certificate issued by the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics that Dr. Al-Maani was a visiting researcher in the department and that she successfully completed two postdoctoral research projects, supported by the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund in Jordan. Her research efforts resulted in the preparation of two joint scientific papers in preparation for publication.
The first project addressed "The role of resumptive pronouns in the real-time processing of sentences in the Arabic language," while the second project addressed "The acquisition of definiteness in Modern Standard Arabic relative clauses by English and French learners."
Dr. Alexopoulou, Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge, praised Dr. Al-Maani's research level, confirming that her research visit period constituted an important scientific opportunity for collaboration and the exchange of research ideas, and that the results of the two projects provided important contributions to understanding language processing and acquisition processes, especially regarding Jordanian Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic.
She explained that the research conducted by Dr. Al-Maani included identifying a number of important hypotheses and designing psycholinguistic experiments to test specific predictions, noting that her results contribute to expanding the current understanding of language processing and acquisition mechanisms and enriching existing scientific theories in this field.
Dr. Alexopoulou also described Dr. Al-Maani as a distinguished researcher, confirming that the results of her research hold significant potential to influence scientific research and academic thinking related to the processing of the linguistic structures addressed by her studies.
Al al-Bayt University affirms its continuous support for researchers and faculty members and encourages them to expand their research partnerships with international universities and academic institutions, which contributes to enhancing the university's status and its scientific and research presence at the international level, and opens new horizons for cooperation, exchange of expertise, and knowledge production.
This research achievement at the University of Cambridge, with its global scientific and research status, reflects the advanced level reached by researchers at Al al-Bayt University, and the university's keenness to support scientific research and provide opportunities for its scientific staff to engage in international research projects and build partnerships with globally prestigious academic and research institutions.
