Al-Adaileh heads Jordan's delegation at an Arab League meeting to discuss providing international protection for the Palestinian people

Jordan's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Amjad Al-Adaileh, headed the Jordanian delegation participating in the extraordinary session of the League Council at the level of permanent representatives, which was held today, Tuesday, at the League's General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo, to discuss mechanisms for providing international protection for the Palestinian people and ways for Arab and international action to confront the escalation of Israeli attacks in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The meeting was held at the request of the State of Palestine, supported by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and member states, at a time when attacks by Israeli occupation forces and armed settlers against Palestinians are escalating, alongside the expansion of illegal and illegitimate policies by Israel, the occupying power, in the Palestinian territories, and the systematic targeting of occupied Jerusalem, its sanctities, its Arab identity, and its indigenous inhabitants.

During his interventions at the meeting, Ambassador Al-Adaileh affirmed Jordan's firm and supportive position on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent and sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Jordan stressed its absolute rejection of all illegal and illegitimate Israeli measures aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people, practicing ethnic cleansing against them, and liquidating the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the necessity of providing international protection for the Palestinian people, stopping the continuous attacks and violations against them, and confronting attempts to impose a new reality in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He pointed to the contents and messages of His Majesty King Abdullah II's speech at the United Nations General Assembly in its last session, and the need to build upon them to urge international powers and influential countries to translate their positions rejecting Israeli violations into practical and effective steps that ensure the protection of the Palestinian people and put an end to policies of forced displacement, settlement expansion, and unilateral measures that undermine the chances for peace.

The Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories, Ambassador Fayed Mustafa, said that what the Palestinian people are being subjected to today cannot be dealt with as isolated incidents or separate transgressions, but rather as part of a systematic policy that targets the Palestinian individual, their land, and their existence, and seeks to displace Palestinian communities, expand colonialism, change the demographic and geographic reality of the occupied Palestinian land, undermine the chances of achieving the two-state solution, and destroy the foundations upon which any just and lasting peace in the region could be built.

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, called on the international community to impose sanctions on Israel and boycott it, instead of merely condemning its crimes.

Al-Aklouk demanded the provision of international protection for the Palestinian people and the criminalization of colonial settlement, stressing that stopping the aggression and ending the illegal Israeli occupation require practical, deterrent measures.
