District Deputy Fathi Al-Bawat emphasized that this government decision will contribute to providing a fertile environment for investment development, noting that issuing infrastructure tenders is the first building block for establishing the complex. He added that the implementation of these works will be monitored to ensure rapid completion and the actual start of providing job opportunities for the district's residents and stimulating the economic movement that has suffered for a long time.
For her part, the Director of Agriculture for the Southern Jordan Valley, Engineer Raeda Al-Maaytah, confirmed that the implementation of this project comes within the Economic Modernization Vision and the National Agricultural Strategy. Once completed, the infrastructure works, valued at 2.491 million dinars from the Ministry of Agriculture's budget for 2026 to 2028, are expected to contribute to providing a suitable environment for investors in the agro-food industrial complex. The complex will contain numerous lines for drying, cooling, packing, and packaging vegetables and fruits for export to regional and international markets, which will contribute to improving the marketing aspect of agricultural products and reducing the surplus of local produce.
Farmer Ahmed Al-Aghawat from Ghor Al-Mazra'a said: "For many years, we have suffered from problems of surplus agricultural production and low prices during peak seasons. Establishing an agro-industrial complex will help absorb these crops and process them locally, which protects the farmer from losses and ensures the stability of the sector."
Youth activist in the Southern Jordan Valley, Moayad Al-Maghasbeh, said that unemployment rates among youth in the Southern Jordan Valley reach high levels despite the natural resources we possess, confirming that the government's allocation for issuing infrastructure tenders brings hope to the hearts of graduates in the district to obtain job opportunities in sustainable development fields.
In turn, farmer Tahani Al-Muradat explained that the implementation of infrastructure works for the development zone will not be limited to large factories only, but will open the way for small and medium-sized projects and contribute to providing training and employment opportunities for girls and women in the fields of packaging and food processing.
