Minister of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Maher Abu Al-Samen, inaugurated on Thursday the new building for the Ain Al-Basha District Public Works Office. This is the first model office implemented by the Ministry as part of its initiative to develop the work environment, improve the level of services provided to citizens, and ensure accessibility and service requirements for persons with disabilities.
The Minister was accompanied during the inauguration by the Ministry's Secretary-General for Technical Affairs, Eng. Waseem Al-Adwan, the Secretary-General for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Raed Al-Halahleh, the Director of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Department, the Director of Governorate Affairs, the Director of Balqa Public Works, and a number of Ministry staff.
Abu Al-Samen emphasized that the inauguration of the building is part of the Ministry's plan to gradually phase out rented buildings currently occupied by public works offices and directorates in governorates and districts. The goal is to move towards constructing Ministry-owned buildings based on a unified and modern model that provides a suitable work environment for employees and service recipients, while contributing to reducing long-term operational expenses associated with renting.
He pointed out that the Ministry looks forward to replicating the Ain Al-Basha office experience by constructing model buildings for public works offices and directorates according to priorities and available resources. These designs will account for technical and administrative work requirements, ease of access for citizens, and facilities for persons with disabilities.
The total area of the Ain Al-Basha Public Works Office building is approximately 320 square meters, in addition to outdoor yards covering about 300 square meters designated for vehicles and machinery, in line with the nature of the office's work and its field requirements.
The building includes engineering, technical, and administrative departments, as well as a public service section, which will contribute to facilitating procedures and accelerating the delivery of services to citizens within the district.
The office is responsible for monitoring and executing works related to Ministry-affiliated roads within the Ain Al-Basha district, including road opening, maintenance, paving, and cleaning, as well as implementing and monitoring public safety and traffic safety requirements. It also oversees water facilities, rainwater drainage works, and other tasks and services related to the competencies of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.
Abu Al-Samen affirmed that the Ministry is continuing to modernize and develop its institutional infrastructure and facilities across various governorates and districts to increase field work efficiency and enhance response speed to citizens' needs. He stressed that the new model buildings must provide an integrated environment for work and public service, directly reflecting on the quality and efficiency of the services provided.
