9 drones and a ballistic missile intercepted and destroyed in Saudi Arabia on Thursday

The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced the interception and destruction of 9 drones on Thursday in the regions of Riyadh, Medina, and the Eastern Province, in addition to a ballistic missile in the Najran region, southern Saudi Arabia.

This was stated in several statements by the Coalition spokesperson, Turki Al-Maliki, published on the American "X" platform on Thursday.

The latest of these statements was the announcement on Thursday evening of the "interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards Najran."

Prior to that, the Coalition reported the "interception and destruction of 4 drones in the Riyadh and Medina regions."

Earlier today, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen indicated the "interception and destruction of a drone in the Riyadh region."

At dawn on Thursday, the Coalition announced the "interception and destruction of 4 drones in the Eastern Province," without further details.

The statements did not include information about the launch sites of the drones, or whether they caused any damage or injuries.

Saudi authorities announced on Wednesday the death of 4 people, two of whom were killed by falling shrapnel after air defenses thwarted an attempt by a drone to target an Aramco field facility in the Eastern Province, and two others in an attack that targeted King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.

The Coalition also announced in several statements on Wednesday the destruction of 7 drones, including one heading towards the southern region of Saudi Arabia, in addition to 6 that were destroyed in the Medina and Eastern regions.

These developments come in light of continuous military escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni Houthi group since last July, coinciding with intensifying battles between the group and government forces in Yemen.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition to support the Yemeni government against the Houthis, who have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and several governorates since September 2014.
