The Coalition had previously announced the destruction of a ballistic missile launcher used by the Houthi group to target the Saudi capital, Riyadh, following the announcement of the missile's interception and destruction. It also announced, in a separate operation, the interception and destruction of a drone in the Riyadh region.
These developments come amid an escalation of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, particularly on airports and civilian facilities, coinciding with the ongoing military operations carried out by the Coalition in Yemen.
During a press conference on October 15, Al-Maliki announced that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh had been subjected to 20 attacks since the beginning of the month, noting that the attacks targeting the airport between October 7 and 11 resulted in 17 deaths and 333 injuries, and involved the use of drones, missiles, and other projectiles.
He pointed out that Coalition forces had destroyed 127 Houthi warehouses in mountainous areas, along with ballistic missile launchers and storage facilities, confirming that the attacks on Saudi airports pose a threat to regional security.
