Zarqa University Wins First Place in Jordanian AI Expo

A team from students and graduates of the Faculty of Information Technology at Zarqa University won first place in the final stage under the education axis in the Jordanian AI Expo 2026 (AI EXPO JO 2026) competition, held at the University of Jordan, with the participation of 39 teams.

The university's victory was for the Smart Employment Platform project, which employs artificial intelligence techniques to develop recruitment and attraction processes, through analyzing CVs, aligning applicants' skills with job requirements, and providing smart recommendations that help narrow the gap between education outputs and labor market needs.

The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Hayel Khafaja, confirmed that this achievement reflects the advanced level reached by the faculty's students and graduates in the fields of artificial intelligence and technological innovation, and reflects the university's ability to transform academic knowledge into technical solutions that meet labor market requirements.

He said: "The participation of students alongside the graduates of the faculty in developing the project represents a practical model for the integration of expertise and the benefit of professional experiences in refining students' skills and expanding their technical horizons, thereby enhancing their ability to develop innovative projects with practical value."

He added that the faculty works to provide a stimulating educational environment for innovation and supports the transformation of ideas and knowledge that students acquire during their academic journey into practical applications and solutions, noting that this achievement is an incentive to continue supporting students and encouraging them to participate in competitions and specialized events in modern technologies.

Meanwhile, the university, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Dr. Abdul-Rahim Al-Sharif, participated in the award ceremony held in honor of Malaysian students expected to graduate in Sharia specializations at universities in the Mafraq and Zarqa governorates, organized by the Association of Malaysian Students at Al-Albayt and Zarqa Universities.

Al-Sharif affirmed that the pursuit of Sharia knowledge represents a scientific and civilizational message that transcends the limits of academic achievement, due to its role in consolidating the values of moderation, tolerance, and building a scientific and aware personality capable of contributing to community service and spreading authentic Islamic values.

Al-Sharif pointed to the importance of openness to various fields of knowledge and taking advantage of opportunities for education and continuous development, which enhances the capabilities of Sharia students and expands their scientific and intellectual horizons, enabling them to perform their mission efficiently and competently.
