Yarmouk University organized a national solidarity vigil, in which the University President, Prof. Dr. Malik Al-Sharairi, members of the academic and administrative staff, and students participated, in honor of the souls of the martyrs of the terrorist incident at the church in the village of Hamoud in Karak Governorate, and in solidarity with their families and loved ones.
"Yarmouk" expressed in this vigil its rejection of extremism, violence, and hatred, emphasizing the unity of Jordanians and the cohesion of the national fabric, standing as one rank around the nation and its Hashemite leadership, and affirming that targeting innocents and places of worship is a crime that touches the conscience of all Jordanians, and that the tragedy that befell the people of Karak is a tragedy for the entire nation.
During the vigil, which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, Al-Sharairi expressed deep sadness and sorrow over this grave tragedy, extending his sincerest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, and asking God Almighty to cover the deceased with His vast mercy and grant their families patience and solace.
He emphasized that the sinful terrorist attack witnessed in the village of Hamoud in Karak, which targets the values of life, tolerance, and coexistence, cannot undermine the determination of Jordanians or shake their belief in their national unity, stressing that Jordanians, of all spectrums and components, have proven throughout their history that they are like a solid structure, that challenges increase their strength, cohesion, and resilience, and that the unity of the national rank will remain the impenetrable fortress in the face of all attempts to sow discord and create rifts in the social fabric.
Al-Sharairi pointed to the humanitarian and national stance of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and his initiative to visit the injured and check on them, confirming that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership, continues its efforts to combat extremist ideology, promote a culture of dialogue and tolerance, and protect human security and dignity, recalling in this context His Majesty the King's affirmations regarding the ability of a united world to defeat evils and secure a safe future for its peoples.
Al-Sharairi addressed a message to the university students, in which he praised their awareness, national responsibility, and participation in this vigil, confirming that their presence reflects a clear rejection of the attack on innocents and an embodiment of the authentic Arab values they were raised on, noting that "Yarmouk" relies on the awareness of its students and their ability to distinguish between ideas that build society and those that target its security and stability, stressing that they are essential partners in protecting the nation, safeguarding its achievements, and continuing its march toward progress and prosperity.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Mohammad, confirmed that killing a safe human soul represents a great injustice and severe corruption that no religion approves of, stressing that the tolerant Islamic Sharia has established the principle of equality among citizens, protected blood and souls, and prohibited attacks on human life and places of worship, and that such crimes are inconsistent with the teachings of religions and human values and morals.
He called for standing as one rank behind the wise Hashemite leadership, promoting the values of moderation and tolerance, and confronting the misguided and destructive ideas that target society and its security.
In their speeches during the vigil, the heads of student blocs expressed their strong condemnation of the terrorist crime, confirming that what befell the people of Karak is a shared national pain, and that the unity of Jordanians is not a slogan raised in crises, but a firm and constant principle of the Jordanian state that does not accept compromise or infringement.
The head of the "Al-Qarar" (Decision) student bloc, Odai Dhiyabat, said that Jordan is one homeland that brings its people together through a shared history, a single destiny, and one flag, and that Jordanian blood is precious to everyone and is not divided by religious differences, confirming that the security and dignity of Jordanians is a shared responsibility, and that standing by our Christian brothers in this tragedy is a national and moral duty that reflects the reality of the partnership in land and future.
The head of the "Nashama Yarmouk" student bloc, Bashar Al-Azzam, confirmed that Jordan, with its cultural heritage and firm national history, will remain resistant to terrorism and attempts to destabilize its security and stability, stressing the importance of consolidating national awareness, resorting to reason and science in the face of extremist ideology, and enhancing the role of universities and student forces in confronting destructive ideas and protecting society from hate speech and division.
The head of the "Urdunna" (Our Jordan) student bloc, Bashar Al-Alawneh, stressed that terrorism will not be able to undermine the unity or steadfastness of Jordanians, and that Jordan will not tremble before a treacherous bullet or an attempt targeting its security, emphasizing that the attack on innocents has nothing to do with religion or human values, and that the awareness of students and their unity constitute the first line of defense in the face of attempts to tear apart and sow discord.
The vigil concluded by affirming that Yarmouk University will remain a platform for national awareness and responsible dialogue, and an incubator for the values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for diversity, and that the people of Jordan, Muslims and Christians, will remain one national family united by love, belonging, and loyalty, protected by the unity of ranks and rallying around the Hashemite leadership, which enhances the Kingdom's security and stability and preserves its national fabric.
