Solidarity vigil in Jabal Al-Taj condemning the attack on Hamoud Church

Residents of Jabal Al-Taj organized a solidarity vigil today, Sunday, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary, to condemn the attack that targeted a church in the village of Hamoud in Karak Governorate, and to affirm the unity of Jordanians and their rejection of all forms of violence, extremism, and attempts to undermine the national social fabric.

The vigil was called for by members of the local council at the Taj Security Center, initiated by Dr. Ali Al-Jayousi, a member of the Jordanian Scholars Association, and attended by representatives of the local community, the Ummah Party, the Muslim Scholars Association, mosque imams, notables, and a number of local residents.

Al-Jayousi emphasized that what befell the people of Karak befell every Jordanian home, and that the pain and the affliction are shared. He stressed that the attack on houses of worship does not target a specific group, but rather constitutes an attack on all of Jordan and a stab at the values of citizenship and coexistence.

He added that Jordanians stand as one in the face of attempts to sow discord and hatred, and that these crimes will only increase their cohesion and solidarity, affirming that Jabal Al-Taj embodies a living model of good citizenship and brotherhood among the nation's people, and that mosques and churches will remain platforms for love and peace.

Al-Jayousi expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, and emphasizing that protecting houses of worship and safeguarding their sanctity is a national and moral responsibility, and that respecting others and accepting pluralism are constants upon which Jordanian society is built.

For their part, a number of members of the Ummah Party expressed their condolences and solidarity with the families of the martyrs of Hamoud town, affirming that Jordan is one homeland that brings its people together in love and brotherhood, and that attempts to sow division and hatred will not undermine their unity and cohesion.

Participants in the vigil from the Christian community expressed their appreciation to the people of Jabal Al-Taj and to Jordanians in various regions of the Kingdom for their sincere solidarity and for sharing in their brothers' affliction, confirming that this vigil reflects the depth of national cohesion and the spirit of brotherhood that unites Jordanians, and embodies the unity of ranks in the face of attacks targeting the nation's security and stability.

They emphasized that the vigil carries a clear national and humanitarian message: that Jordanians are one family, not divided by religions or sects, that the attack on houses of worship is rejected and condemned, and that national unity and popular solidarity constitute a fundamental pillar in protecting Jordan's security and stability.

The participants called for upholding the values of tolerance and mutual respect, and safeguarding the social fabric, affirming that Jordan will remain united, cherished, and secure under its wise Hashemite leadership.
