Yemeni government forces attack Houthi positions near Bab al-Mandab

Two military sources said that Yemeni government forces attacked, on Monday, Houthi positions in Dhubab district overlooking the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, a day after the internationally recognized government announced the start of a campaign to retake territory controlled by the Houthis.

The government-aligned Giants Brigades said its first units had arrived in the Bab al-Mandab area.

Yemeni forces had announced that they carried out 1,122 operations targeting Houthi positions, as part of the "Battle of Liberation" operation.

They added that the operations targeted Houthi positions in the axes and fronts of Saada, Al-Jawf, Taiz, and the Coast.

The official spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Colonel Staff Majed Al-Naili, had announced on Sunday the start of implementing the "Battle of Liberation" to complete the restoration of state institutions, end the Houthi coup, and lift the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Al-Naili said the battle aims to retake territory controlled by the Houthi group, assert national sovereignty, and end the manifestations of the coup, pointing out that the armed forces affirm their commitment to protecting civilian lives and sparing them harm in all regions and governorates.

He added that the battle aims to return Yemen to its Arab fold and strategic depth, affirming the right of the state and citizens to restore their rights and live a dignified life.
