These developments come after government forces announced control over the Kahboub heights, which overlook the area surrounding the strait, a strategic passage at the southern entrance to the Red Sea.
In Taiz Governorate, confrontations continued in the Al-Wazi'iyah district and rural areas south and west of the governorate, coinciding with raids that targeted Houthi positions and movements in the districts of Al-Wazi'iyah, Ash Shamayatayn, Jabal Habashi, and border areas between Taiz and Lahj.
Local sources reported that the Houthis advanced in the Al-Mahsha, Al-Adaf, and Al-Arma areas in the Jabal Habashi district, heading towards the Al-Shariq area, amid shelling that affected villages in the region and resulted, according to the sources, in the death of a teacher. The media center of the government's Taiz Military Axis announced that one of the raids resulted in the neutralization and injury of 23 members, without independent confirmation of this toll.
Regarding military operations, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Colonel Majid Al-Nuzaili, said on Thursday that the forces had carried out 1,729 targeting operations against Houthi military targets, which resulted, according to him, in the neutralization of 1,370 members of the group and the destruction or disabling of 300 vehicles and pieces of military equipment. These figures could not be independently verified.
According to local reports, the raids extended to eight governorates: Taiz, Ibb, Al-Bayda, Abyan, Saada, Sanaa, Raymah, and Al-Hudaydah. In Lahj, government forces announced that they had repelled a Houthi attack and regained positions on Jabal Saif, while confrontations continued on the fronts south of Marib and Al-Jawf.
The developments reflect the expansion of military operations on several fronts, as government forces seek to consolidate their positions on the West Coast and secure the vicinity of Bab al-Mandab, coinciding with the continuation of battles in the countryside of Taiz and other parts of the country.
