The U.S. Department of State said that the Sudanese Army and Rapid Support Forces, and neither of their leaderships, represent a legitimate and constitutional authority to rule Sudan, considering that both parties are ruling by force of arms.
The spokesperson for the Ministry, Tommy Piggott, added that both parties have not shown a serious commitment to an immediate ceasefire, but rather escalated combat operations and drone strikes that resulted in civilian casualties.
Washington renewed its call for an unconditional humanitarian truce, as a prelude to a political dialogue leading to a civilian government.
It affirmed President Donald Trump's commitment to support a peace plan and to work with parties that show seriousness in ending the war.
