The Public Security Directorate launched, on Sunday, the national campaign to verify the suitability of vehicles, under the slogan "Vehicles More Ready… Safer Roads", in preparation for winter, and with the accompanying changes in weather conditions and road conditions, and with the aim of enhancing the readiness of vehicles and raising their technical safety level, and reducing traffic accidents and protecting road users.
The Directorate will start, from Sunday, October 11, 2026, implementing the campaign through the traffic departments and the Royal Society for the Protection of the Environment, with the participation of specialized technical teams from the Maintenance Department, to ensure the suitability and technical readiness of vehicles for safe travel on roads.
The campaign adopts a preventive and awareness approach focusing on detecting technical faults and deficiencies and correcting them before they pose a danger to the driver, passengers, or road users; in case of a technical defect affecting the safety of the vehicle, the owner will be given a notice without issuing a violation, and given a week to correct the vehicle's condition and complete the general safety requirements.
The inspection work includes the most important elements of technical safety in the vehicle, including tires, lighting, glass, windshield wipers, engine water, and heating systems in public vehicles, in addition to any other defects or deficiencies that may affect the suitability of the vehicle or the safety of road users, in accordance with the requirements of driving during winter.
In order to facilitate citizens and enhance the preventive aspect of the campaign, the Public Security Directorate has allocated quick technical inspection lanes (Drive Thru) in front of all traffic sections in the capital and governorates, and drivers' licensing centers and their evening stations, in addition to government service centers that provide technical inspection service, to enable citizens to inspect their vehicles and ensure their technical readiness.
The Public Security Directorate confirmed that the campaign is not limited to the supervisory aspect, but represents a national program for prevention and enhancement of traffic safety, based on partnership between the competent authorities, citizens, institutions, vehicle and fleet operators, and the media.
The Directorate called on citizens to take the initiative to inspect their vehicles and carry out the necessary maintenance before the start of winter weather conditions, and not to wait until defects appear, confirming that the readiness of the vehicle is a responsibility that starts with its owner and driver, and that preventive maintenance contributes to protecting lives and reducing the likelihood of accidents.
The Directorate also called on institutions, companies, fleet operators, and the media to support the campaign and disseminate its messages and guidelines, in order to enhance awareness of technical safety requirements and to establish a culture of preventive inspection and maintenance as a continuous behavior and shared responsibility throughout the year.
The Public Security Directorate affirmed that achieving safer roads starts with a more ready vehicle, and a more aware and committed driver
