Public Security: National winter campaign to verify vehicle roadworthiness begins tomorrow, Sunday

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) will begin its winter traffic campaign starting Sunday to ensure the roadworthiness of vehicles for safe travel during the winter season.

This campaign aims to reduce traffic accidents, preserve the lives of citizens and road users, and provide a safe traffic environment.

The campaign, implemented by traffic departments, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, and technical teams from the Maintenance Department, includes checking vehicle readiness, verifying their technical suitability for driving on roads during winter, and their ability to handle unusual weather conditions.

During the campaign, the functionality of critical vehicle parts will be checked, such as tires, lighting, glass, wipers, engine coolant, and the operation of heaters in public transport vehicles, in addition to other important parts or any deficiencies that affect the vehicle's roadworthiness or pose a risk to road users during winter.

In the event of any technical defect affecting vehicle safety, the vehicle owner will be given a notice (without a fine) for one week to rectify the vehicle's technical status and complete any deficiencies related to public safety.

The Public Security Directorate calls on citizens to cooperate with PSD personnel, follow all guidelines and instructions, and perform appropriate maintenance on their vehicles to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
