Vehicle Carrying 14 Passengers in Its Trunk Seized on Airport Road

The External Patrols Department dealt with 3 traffic accidents over the past 24 hours, and seized a vehicle traveling at a speed of 178 km/h on Irbid Ring Road, and another carrying 14 passengers in its trunk on Airport Road.

Captain Ziad Al-Sharman, the External Patrols Department Operations Officer, said on Monday morning that all external roads are passable, and no observations affecting the smoothness of traffic flow have been recorded since early morning hours.

He explained that the patrols had been deployed since around 6 a.m. to inspect the roads and ensure they were free of any obstacles, with patrols stationed at the entrances and exits of the capital Amman and the governorates to receive the morning traffic and monitor peak hours, under the supervision of branch and section heads.

In details of the accidents, a tipper truck loaded with sand deteriorated at the end of the 100 Road towards Al-Zarqa, causing an obstruction on the right lane, where a patrol and branch head were stationed at the site until a large-scale crane was brought to lift the tipper truck, remove the obstacles, and open the road to traffic.

A collision between two vehicles also occurred on Irbid-Amman Road, before Philadelphia University on the way down towards the north. The two vehicles settled outside the street's perimeter, but the accident coincided with the peak evening traffic, causing traffic to slow down due to the gathering of citizens to watch the accident, before the traffic was organized and removed at the site.

The patrols also dealt with a truck deterioration on Baghdad International Road, after the Ashqif Security Station towards the border, with the vehicle completely outside the street's perimeter, and the necessary measures were taken.

In the context of monitoring dangerous violations, one of the patrols seized a vehicle on Irbid Ring Road with a speed of 178 km/h, and the necessary measures were taken against it.

On Airport Road, the patrols seized a 'Diana' vehicle, which, after inspection, was found to have 14 passengers in the rear trunk, which is a dangerous violation affecting traffic safety.

The patrols also dealt with two oil spills on external roads; the first at the end of the back road descent towards Amman, for a distance of about 100 meters and a width of half a meter, where the oil was buried by the patrols present at the site to avoid slippage.

The second spill was recorded in the Daba Hanout area towards Amman, with a length of about two kilometers and a width of half a meter, where a patrol was stationed for signaling and guidance and to mobilize the labor groups to treat the spill.

Regarding traffic movement, the road from Wadi Al-Arab Dam in the northern Jordan Valley towards Irbid is witnessing active movement, while the Irbid-Amman Road is witnessing active and strong movement towards Amman, and medium movement towards the northern governorates.

The desert road is witnessing active movement, especially for cargo vehicles coming from the southern governorates or from the capital Amman towards the south, while the patrols are deployed along the road from Al-Giza to Aqaba for signaling and guidance, monitoring the movement, and removing it as soon as possible.

At the Ras Al-Naqab Security Station and the entrance to Aqaba towards the south, the movement is medium, especially for cargo vehicles.

The Amman-Zarqa Road is witnessing active movement in both directions, as well as the Mafraq-Zarqa Expressway for those coming from Jaber border and Mafraq Governorate towards Zarqa and vice versa.

The Airport Road is witnessing noticeable activity in both directions, for those coming from the southern governorates towards Amman and vice versa, while the Al-Udaisiya-Naour Road is witnessing noticeable activity for traffic from Amman heading down towards the Dead Sea, and from the Dead Sea heading up towards the capital.

Sharman renewed the call to adhere to the traffic law and to avoid dangerous violations that contribute to the occurrence of accidents, calling on citizens who need assistance on external roads to call the emergency phone 911 to mobilize the nearest patrol and provide the necessary assistance.
