UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric warned on Wednesday that essential supply stocks in Gaza are insufficient due to a lack of funding and continued strict restrictions imposed on the ability of UN partners to replenish those stocks.
Dujarric said in a press briefing, citing UN humanitarian partners, that Israeli airstrikes and other attacks continue to hit populated areas, endangering civilians and causing damage to property.
He pointed to an Israeli airstrike yesterday, Tuesday, that hit a building in Al-Bureij, near Deir al-Balah, where two UN schools were being used as temporary shelters for people displaced from their homes, as well as a UN-supported bakery, resulting in about 100 families losing their homes and belongings.
Dujarric reiterated the need to always respect civilians and civilian objects, including shelters and humanitarian facilities.
